I left the bell raw because it sounded perfect before any lathing. The body was only minimally lathed with a couple passes that removed about 90% of the crust. It is a very low pitched cymbal and has a beautiful woody click sitting above a minimal breathy dark wash. Crashable with a quickly dissipating sustain. If Jack DeJohnette's Encore raw ride and a Constantinople Low had a love-child, this is what it might sound like.
